On Friday, March 15, the UVA School of Medicine’s Class of 2024 learned where they will continue their training as residents at hospitals across the country, including UVA Health University Medical Center. 

Match Day is held at the same time at medical schools across the U.S. The event brings together family and friends to help the soon-to-be doctors celebrate. At noon, the students simultaneously opened envelopes that revealed the location of their residencies.

The Class of 2024 medical students performed magnificently this year: 144 students matched into 24 specialities across 27 states; 20 students will remain in Charlottesville to continue their training at UVA. The top five matched specialties are Internal Medicine, Anesthesiology, General Surgery, Obstetrics-Gynecology, and Pediatrics.
