The Patient Experience Office recently recognized 160 providers for providing an outstanding patient experience. The providers were rated in the 90th percentile in the Press Ganey Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS), the survey used to measure patience experience.

Of those, 66 providers achieved the 99th percentile.

Traci Hedrick, MD, met the criteria in three services.

Four providers achieved 100% Top Box scores, meaning every patient rated these providers as a 9 or 10 on a scale of 0 to 10, with 10 being the highest:

• Michael Douvas, MD
• Colleen Green, PA
• Preston Grice, MD

“I was so excited to be able to recognize so many outstanding UVA Health providers,” said Bush Bell, Patient Experience Officer. “These physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants have demonstrated that they are the best of the best and work tirelessly to develop compassionate relationships with their patients. I could not be more proud of them for the work they do every day.”

All the recognized providers were invited to attend a provider celebration event where they received a Certificate of Achievement.

The HCAHPS measurements included Inpatient, Outpatient Clinics, Emergency Department, Outpatient Surgery, and Outpatient and Inpatient Behavioral Health for January-December 2018.
