2026 Red Book Update
Every January, Emergency Management publishes an updated Red Book, which contains emergency contact information and basic response procedures for team members to use during emergency events.
Managers or designees: Please make sure your unit’s Red Book is updated by looking at the date on each page, not just the cover page. All pages should say January 2026 in the footnote. Any unit-specific information should be transferred over to the new copy. You can access the updated Red Book on KnowledgeLink or on the Red Book desktop icon.
All team members are required to be familiar with the Red Book for their area, including location, contents, layout, and when it is to be used.
Academic buildings — such as McKim Hall, Pinn Hall, McLeod Hall, the MR buildings, and the Health Sciences Library — follow the academic Emergency Procedures Guide and the companion Emergency Procedures Poster, both of which can be found here.
As a reminder, you are encouraged to check that your mobile phone number(s) are registered in your UVA Alerts account to receive emergency alerts via text. You can access your UVA Alerts account here. Additionally, there is a new mobile safety app available: UVA Ready. Please consider downloading the UVA Ready application here.
Thank you for your attention. Please stay safe.
