On Friday, Aug. 11, UVA welcomed the 160 School of Medicine students of the Class of 2027 to the University of Virginia at the White Coat Ceremony and Convocation, endowed by the Class of 1965, held in Old Cabell Hall. This is an annual event presented by the UVA Medical Alumni Association (MAA) and Medical School Foundation (MSF).

Speakers at the event included Barry Collins, Executive Director, UVA Medical Alumni Association and Medical School Foundation and Associate Dean for Medical Alumni Affairs; Nora Kern, MD, President of the UVA Medical Alumni Association Board of Directors; Misky Sharif, SMD24, President of the School of Medicine’s Mulholland Society; Melina Kibbe, MD, Dean, School of Medicine and Chief Health Affairs Officer for UVA Health; and Meg Keeley, MD, Senior Associate Dean for Education, Professor of Pediatrics.

The coats were presented by Laurie Archbald-Pannone, MD, Dean of Dunglison College; John Densmore, MD, Dean of Hunter College; Dana Redick, MD, Dean of Pinn College; Sean Reed, MD, Dean of Reed College; and Dean Kedes, MD, PhD, Director of the Medical Scientist Training Program.
