The Patient Experience Office recently announced recipients of the annual Patient Experience Awards, which honor providers and teams who ensure outstanding patient experiences. There are 267 honorees for fiscal year 2020:

• 184 doctors, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and dentists
• 83 teams from inpatient units, outpatient clinics, and departments

The awardees were chosen based their high scores on the surveys UVA Health uses to measure patient perception.

Provider Patient Experience Awards

Each of the 184 providers recognized achieved a rating in the 90th percentile or above in the surveys.

Awardee achievements:

• 115 providers are being recognized for the second year in a row
• 69 providers are being recognized for the first time
• 7 providers are being recognized in multiple survey categories
• 11 providers received perfect scores of 100
  • 4 of these providers received perfect scores two years in a row

UVA Inpatient, Outpatient, and Clinic Teams Patient Experience Awards

Each of the 83 teams recognized received a Patient Experience Award in one of two categories:

• Most Improved - Overall percentile ranking improved by greater than or equal to 20 points over the previous year
• Top Performer – Scored in the 90th percentile and above in the patient surveys used to measure patient’s perception

Awardee achievements:

• 62 teams are recognized for the second year in a row
• 21 are recognized for the first time
• 3 teams received perfect scores of 100
