This year, Access Week, a week to raise awareness and celebrate the contributions of our Access teams, is April 4-10.  Resilience Through Adversity: Evolving Patient Access is the theme of this year’s celebration. 

Did you know?

Our UVA Health Access Teams: 

• Register community members for COVID testing.
• Schedule patients for COVID vaccinations in the Vaccine Call Center.
• Console a worried family member when they call to check on their loved one who just had surgery. 
• Follow up on insurance referrals with an eye to detail. 
• Schedule multiple and complex appointments for patients.
• Work various workqueues, InBasket pools and inboxes.

Because they are often the first point of contact with our patients and external providers, they make the first impression for our organization.

Established in 1982, Patient Access Week is a celebration of the people in the Patient Access profession. The date marks the anniversary of the founding of the National Association of Healthcare Access Management (NAHAM), the only national professional organization dedicated to promoting excellence within the field.
