Frequently Asked Questions

Who is eligible?

Applicants must be employed as full-time or flex option (budgeted at 0.6 FTE or higher) with UVA Health, with a minimum* of six months of service as of July 1, 2021. (*Exception: For applicants already in RN Clinician 1 roles, there is no minimum service requirement.) Wage and Traveler team members are ineligible to apply. This aligns with the Educational Assistance HR benefit and policy.

Please refer to the PNSO website for additional details and to apply.

Why was eligibility expanded for this program?

Direct feedback from the Scholarship Work Group and the RN-to-BSN Program Evaluation Focus Group participants led to the expanded eligibility and additional funding for this program to support team members on their path to achieving their academic progression goals. Thank you to the RN Retention Steering Committee for supporting this expansion, which actively encourages and supports an internal career path to become a UVA RN.

What other funds are available?

Team members should also take advantage of the great funding support opportunities available through the Employee Educational Assistance Program benefit as outlined in HR Policy 301, as it may be sufficient to meet their funding needs. The RN Scholarship fund is intended to supplement this benefit.
