‘The Mark of a Truly Caring Provider’: Colleagues and Patients Commend Senior Access Associate’s ‘Unparalleled Expertise’
"Stephanie O'Brien is an incredible asset to our team!”
UVA Health University Medical Center Chief Medical Officer Reid Adams, MD, and Nursing Professional Governance Organization (NPGO) Recognition and Retention Specialist Ashley Noguera, PMP, surprised Stephanie O'Brien, Cardiovascular Surgery Center, with a BEE (Being Excellent Everyday) Award.
Only up to two UVA Health University Medical Center team members are recognized this way by the NPGO each month.
Kristin Lilly, Physician Assistant, nominated the senior access associate:
"Stephanie O'Brien is an incredible asset to our team! She is kind, dependable, dedicated, diligent, and efficient in her work. Since joining our team, Stephanie has far surpassed all expectations! Every day she can be seen going above and beyond for our team in a variety of ways.
"Firstly, she is incredibly dedicated to her patients. She works hard and efficiently to schedule them for their follow up studies, and even harder to coordinate everything to work best for the patient. Every single day in clinic, a patient specifically asks to see Stephanie after their appointment to thank her for her hard work. Most recently, a patient wanted to hug her for calming him down as he was anxious prior to his appointment and Stephanie made a specific call to help calm him. Not a day goes by that patients don't ask about her or comment about her helpfulness. This is the mark of a truly caring provider.
"Secondly, from a provider standpoint, it is hard to coordinate studies that often times need to be done urgently for surgery. Without fail, Stephanie is always able to find an appointment for us and when talking to other scheduling teams, she is always respectful and kind. She attends each clinic she is responsible for, and if you need her, she will drop what she is doing to help. I asked her to help me coordinate an appointment at an outside facility, and this was done before the patient left the actual hospital after his appointment. It was incredible work!
"Thirdly, Stephanie brings joy to everything she does. Her kind, caring, can-do attitude permeates throughout her work and to her patients. From decorating her cubicle at work, to remembering birthdays, to writing special notes or bringing 'thinking of you' gifts, Stephanie is incredibly compassionate toward others. It is clear how much she cares about our department in everything that she does. Your day is immediately brightened when you see Stephanie!
"In closing, Stephanie is one of the best senior access associates I have ever worked with! She is caring, dependable, efficient, and kind. Her can-do attitude brings light and unparalleled expertise to our department. Our department absolutely would be lost without her. Without a doubt, she deserves to be recognized not only for her outstanding work, but for her dedication and commitment to our patients!"
