UVA Community Health | Open Enrollment for 2025 Benefit Plan Year
NOTE: The content below applies to UVA Community Health team members. For team members at UVA Health in Charlottesville, please refer to this Open Enrollment story.
Be a rock star this year and Rock Enroll during open enrollment. Open enrollment for the 2025 benefits plan year will be held October 20-November 2, 2024. All benefit elections will be effective January 1, 2025. All benefits-eligible team members must take enrollment action to continue benefits in 2025.
Open Enrollment is a great time to review current benefits and make changes to align coverage with your family, health and financial plans. UVA Community Health offers multiple benefit plans to help you take care of yourself and your family.
What’s important about open enrollment this year?
- Don’t miss the gig — The most important thing about open enrollment this year is that all benefits-eligible team members must take enrollment action to continue benefits in 2025. The HR team has been busy at work redesigning the benefits module in Oracle to provide a more functional and user-friendly experience. Team members must access Oracle during open enrollment and elect benefits for the 2025 plan year. Don’t miss the gig and start 2025 without any benefits.
- Set the stage for benefits coverage in 2025 — Team members are strongly encouraged to review their benefits in Oracle and record current elections prior to open enrollment. While current benefits will still be visible under the normal Your Benefits icon in Oracle, recording current benefit elections will set the stage to quickly complete open enrollment.
- Stay in tune — When completing the required open enrollment in Oracle, the only benefit plans which will be visible to team members are current 2024 voluntary term life insurance and short-term disability elections. The HR team designed enrollment this way so team members can stay in tune with their current coverage levels and avoid having to complete evidence of insurability to continue these benefits. To review, enroll or make changes to whole life insurance coverage, access the Unum portal.
What’s new or changing in 2025?
- Minimal increase to medical premiums - UVA Community Health’s medical plans are self-insured which means the premiums collected from team members and the employer fund the plan to pay medical and pharmacy claims. To meet the rising cost of UVACH claims, both the team member and employer 2025 premiums will increase slightly by 4.5% to ensure our medical plan can cover all claims. Across the country, there has been a significant rise in medical costs. UVACH has worked hard to negotiate the best rates with the vendor. HR will also be providing more education on health and wellness programs in 2025 in an effort to minimize future increases. Review 2025 Medical PPO and HDHP premiums.
- Updates to PPO and HDHP medical plan designs -To minimize the increase to medical plan premiums, both the PPO and HDHP plan designs have been modified.
