On Sept. 19, UVA Health joined with global partners in recognizing Aortic Dissection Awareness Day, a day dedicated to education, advocacy, and support for patients and families impacted by aortic disease.

UVA Health is proud to collaborate with organizations such as the John Ritter Foundation and the Marfan Foundation for Aortic Health, which provides invaluable educational resources for patients, providers, and the public. In addition, our team actively engages with the Aortic Dissection Awareness Global Trust, whose annual webinar features patient stories, expert insights, and interactive Q&A sessions that highlight the importance of timely diagnosis, multidisciplinary care, and ongoing research.

At UVA, our Aortic Care Team brings together providers across outpatient clinics, inpatient services, and regional satellite locations to ensure comprehensive care for patients with complex aortic conditions. To mark the occasion, team members wore their favorite UVA Hoo’s spirit wear, uniting in support of our patients and raising awareness that aortic disease is serious — but with expertise, teamwork, and compassion — world-class care is possible.

By recognizing Aortic Dissection Awareness Day, UVA Health reaffirms its commitment to advancing care, supporting families, and strengthening partnerships that help save lives.
