‘Direct Connection’: 2025 Healthcare Education Fair Is Oct. 23
Ready to advance your education — or change direction — to help take the next step in your healthcare career? All UVA Health team members are invited to attend the 2025 Healthcare Education Fair, Thursday, Oct. 23, 3:30-6:30 p.m. at the UVA Health University Medical Center Main Hospital Cafeteria to learn more about two and four-year colleges; universities; and programs that offer healthcare degrees and certificates.
‘The Reason’
Haile Mokrzycki, Patient Care Technician, Labor and Delivery, 8 East, attended the 2024 Healthcare Education Fair to explore options that could help her advance her career. “Along with speaking with admissions teams from various BSN and direct-entry MSN master's nursing programs, I asked questions of the UVA School of Nursing admissions team, which was helpful because I was applying to a Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) program,” she explains. “The 2024 Healthcare Education Fair is the reason I am now a first-year CNL student!”
Mokrzycki says she would recommend attending this year’s event because “even if you think you are set on applying to a particular program or certification, there are many opportunities for advancing in your career, information on various healthcare-related programs, and details on financial aid and application cycles that you can't find collectively anywhere else!”
Who Can You Meet?
At the fair, meet admissions counselors and other representatives for the latest information on a wide range of fields. That includes athletic training, biomedicine, health administration, health informatics, interventional radiology, nursing at all levels, nutrition, pharmacy tech, physical therapy (PT), leadership, occupational therapy (OT), physician’s assistant, public health, radiography, respiratory therapy (RT), social work, sonography, surgical technology, UVA Health’s Earn While You Learn, and more. Answering All Your Questions!
The event is sponsored by NPGO’s Professional Development Committee. “This is a wonderful opportunity to explore a variety of education paths for future jobs in healthcare and to learn more about different nursing degree programs,” says Luella Glanzer, MSN, RN, Nursing Professional Governance Clinical Leader, UVA Health University Medical Center. “Bring a colleague and be sure to stop by!”
“We want to provide UVA Health team members the opportunity right within University Medical Center for a direct connection with colleges and programs," says Chris Moubray MSN, AMB-BC, CNML, NPD-BC, Nursing Professional Development Specialist, Nursing Professional Development Services. "The number of participating programs grows significantly each year. Survey results from fair participants allow us to have a better understanding of what they’re looking for — for example, allowing us to fill requests for more advanced nursing degree and respiratory therapy program offerings,” “Even if you are just a little curious, join us to see what's offered!”
Laura Brooks, RN, works for UVA Health Continuum Home Health. She attended the Healthcare Education Fair last year to learn more about obtaining a master’s degree in nursing. “I didn’t know about a couple of the schools,” she says. “I was interested in UVA programs and read literature about their MSN. The fair was informative. Each school was very helpful and answered all my questions!”
