Dear Colleagues, 

Today, we are excited to announce a multi-year initiative that will bring Finance, Supply Chain, and HR together into Workday, a single cloud-based platform and mobile app that offers tools to manage our employees and finances more effectively, make our work easier, strengthen collaboration, and help us move forward together as one team.

By bringing these critical functions into a single, integrated system, we will achieve a number of important benefits, including:

• Streamlined purchasing
• Significant cost savings
• Enhanced processes and reporting capabilities
• Fewer tools to learn and manage to do your daily work
• Increased automation
• Elimination of redundant practices
• Improved fiscal business processes and controls

Over the past several years UVA adopted Workday to manage finances at the University including the School of Medicine. Further, Workday’s Human Capital Management (HCM) applications were implemented across the Academic division, UPG and the Medical Center to effectively manage payroll, benefits, talent management. Building on this foundation, we will extend Workday’s HCM capabilities to UVA Community Health and integrate finance and supply chain functionality across all entities into a single, modern platform that will deliver a consolidated view of financial and supply chain reporting and improve our internal controls.

This exciting and ambitious project will be a multi-year effort, involving months of planning, building, training, and implementation across all our areas. To get us started, we are assembling a working team now — including representation from UVA, UVA Health, Community Health, and UPG — that will partner with colleagues across the enterprise to plan the path forward and make sure we launch this effort successfully, from day one. Our goal throughout this project will be to be disciplined, collaborative, agile, and effective in supporting all team members and the work you do.
