25 Photos: APOGEE 2025 Conference Brings APPs Together to Expand Knowledge

Advancing PrOfessional Growth, Education, and Excellence — APOGEE 2025, an annual UVA Advanced Practice Provider conference was held Oct. 9 and 10, 2025. The word APOGEE means "the farthest or highest point or culmination.” The APOGEE conference is designed for advanced practice providers (APPs) with the intent of being central Virginia’s destination for expanding clinical knowledge; learning about novel, evidence-based treatments; and networking with colleagues.

APOGEE conference

The conference commenced with opening remarks by Mitchell Rosner, MD, MACP, FRCP, Chief Executive Officer, UVA Health, and Executive Vice President for Health Affairs, University of Virginia. The wide range of topics included clinical practice, research, quality initiatives, professional development and provider well-being. There were inpatient, ambulatory, pediatric and critical care breakout sessions with 37-expert speakers from multiple different specialties sharing their expertise and clinical pearls. The conference also showcased oral and poster presentations of research, quality initiatives, and performance improvement projects. In addition to participants within Virginia, the conference also attracted participants from other states including Maryland, North Carolina, and Florida.

According to Bill Lombardi, the Administrator, Center for Advanced Practice at UVA, “It was great to see so many of our own APPs take part and present their work at this conference. The expertise that we have in our teams is absolutely awe-inspiring. Speakers were able to share clinical pearls from their subspecialty practice, novel care delivery designs of pilot programs, and lessons learned from implementation of evidence-based quality improvement projects. One of my favorite parts of the conference was seeing the attendance from APPs from other hospital systems around the state, and even a few people out of state!”

In addition to continuing education, one of the other goals of this conference was to provide networking opportunities for APPs to promote collaboration and professional development through knowledge exchange.

Feedback from participants included: “This was a great conference and plan to attend in the future. Well-organized, great topics, and learned a ton. Interaction with new and older colleagues was terrific,” and “Great incorporation of multidisciplinary speakers (pharmacist, PT, NP, PA, MD, GC)!”

The collaborative efforts of UVA Center for Advanced Practice and UVA Health Continuing Education (provided by UVA School of Nursing and UVA School of Medicine) has helped in the successful offering of APOGEE 2025, UVA’s annual Advanced Practice Provider Conference.
