Announcing the Retirement of Robin Parkin, UVA Health Chief Information Officer
Dear Colleagues,
It is with heartfelt gratitude that I announce the well-earned retirement of Robin Parkin, enterprise Chief Information Officer, and recognize her exemplary decade of service to UVA Health. Robin’s leadership has left an enduring mark on every area of our organization and across the expansive scope of her portfolio.
Robin joined UVA Health in 2015 to lead the implementation and deployment of our Epic EMR system (Epic Phase2). Through her vision and expertise, she successfully led the implementation of Epic’s Access and Revenue Cycle products, while seamlessly integrating lab services, perioperative services, and home health into the Epic platform. Early in her tenure, she unified all information technology departments and built a high-performing team to support the needs of our growing health system.
Robin’s proven leadership and strategic insight led to her appointment as permanent CIO in 2021. Today, the Health Information Technology (HIT) team includes more than 500 professionals and supports over 1,300 enterprise applications. Under her direction, the team has advanced the EMR with over 20 additional Epic applications being deployed, along with many other vendor products over the years. Epic MyChart strengthened our digital patient experience, enhanced cybersecurity, and ensured reliable infrastructure across networks, computers, applications, telephony, and data centers.
Among her many accomplishments, one of the most remarkable was the HIT team’s pivotal role in UVA Health’s COVID-19 response. Robin led with agility and innovation — deploying technology that enabled testing for every UVA student and rapidly establishing community testing sites. Her leadership helped UVA Health demonstrate our steadfast commitment to our patients, team members, students, and neighbors during one of the most challenging times in recent history.
Robin also oversaw the seamless technology integration of UVA Community Health into our system — an achievement that continues to advance our ability to deliver coordinated care. Also, she strengthened our clinical informatics strategy by recruiting our current Chief Medical Informatics Officer and our first Chief Nursing Informatics Officer, building bridges between technology and clinical practice that continue to enhance patient care across UVA Health.
Robin’s dedication, strategic vision, and collaborative spirit have strengthened UVA Health in countless ways. She will conclude her tenure with UVA Health on Jan. 12, 2026. A national search for our next Chief Information Officer is currently underway, with the goal of naming a new CIO before Robin’s departure or very shortly thereafter.
Please join me in expressing deep appreciation for her leadership and service, and in wishing her the very best as she embarks on this exciting next chapter.
Most sincerely,
Mitchell H. Rosner, MD, MACP, FRCP
