How is Employee Primary Care different from UVA Health Employee Health and/or WorkMed?

UVA Health Employee Primary Care aims to be a primary care home for members of the UVA Health Plan from the University Medical Center and the Academic Division. The clinic also provides same-day care visits.

Employee Health exclusively serves University Medical Center team members for work-related (occupational) health issues such as when they’re injured at work, need an immunization for work, and/or need support to comply with workplace safety policies such as fit testing. UVA-WorkMed provides these same services to employees of UPG and the Academic Division (School of Medicine, School of Nursing, etc.) who are subject to UVA Heath occupational health policies. Employee Health and UVA-WorkMed do not provide primary care or same-day care services.

When should I reach out to Employee Primary Care versus our Same Day Care clinic or other UVA Health immediate care offerings?

Contact Employee Primary Care if you need to establish with a primary care provider. If you are looking for a same-day or urgent care appointment for an acute need, you may also contact Employee Primary Care, Same Day Care, or any of our other clinics offering immediate care appointments, even if you already have a PCP at another clinic.
