Flu Gets Nixed in ‘26: All Team Members to Complete Flu Vaccine Compliance by Oct. 31

In preparation for the arrival of influenza (flu) season, this week marks the launch of this year’s flu vaccination campaign: Flu Gets Nixed in ’26.

Getting the flu vaccination is the best way to prevent the flu and its complications. The CDC recommends annual flu vaccination for everyone aged 6 months or older. By getting vaccinated, you are also protecting people around you, including those who are more vulnerable to serious flu illness, including babies and young children, older people, and people with certain chronic health conditions.

To keep our patients and our team members safe, flu vaccines are free for all UVA Health team members, and vaccination is mandatory for all Tier 1 UVA Health team members. See the Occupational Health Screening and Maintenance Health System Policy for details.

Review the guidance below that applies to your entity of employment on how to submit your proof of vaccination or request exemption and where you can get a flu vaccine.

Disciplinary Policies

Team members who do not submit proof of vaccination or receive an approved exemption by the required deadline may be subject to disciplinary action under their applicable policies and procedures, up to and including suspension or termination. Contact your manager or HR business partner for details.
