Celebrating Martin Luther King Jr. Day
Dear UVA Health community,
In 1967, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was at a crossroads. Reflecting on the Civil Rights Movement and where his life of service would take him and the country next, he wrote the book "Where Do We Go From Here: Chaos or Community?"
On Monday, as we commemorate the life and legacy of Dr. King, the thought-provoking question posed by his book's title is still relevant more than a half-century later. This question is the theme of the 2021 Community MLK Celebration at UVA — whose events include numerous virtual talks, panel discussions, self-care workshops, and other activities.
With clinics closed for the holiday, the UVA Health family is encouraged to participate in this community celebration. View the full calendar, and click on the event title for more information and to register.
Dr. King dedicated his life to creating a more just, humane, and peaceful world. Please join us as we come together as a community to honor and carry on Dr. King's work on Jan. 18 and throughout the year.
