UVA Health’s BEE (Being Excellent Everyday) Award recognizes our Medical Center team members who work alongside our nurses to impact our patients' experiences — just as bees and flowers depend on one another. 

Colleague Erin Schwarz has nominated Courtni Tapp, Patient Care Technician, Outpatient Surgery Pre/Post:

"Courtni started on our unit only a few months ago. Our unit has several amazing, hardworking techs, and Courtni embodies these qualities. It's amazing how she's mastered being such a compassionate and knowledgeable member of our team in such a short time. The first thought that came to my mind as to why she is so deserving of the BEE Award is how utterly kind and warm Courtni is not only to her patients, but also to her coworkers!

"As soon as Courtni started here, I felt like I had a new coworker bestie. She is someone I can go to when I need a caring ear to vent to — she makes me feel so supported in every situation. I would say Courtni is one of, if not the most, approachable person here. Even though she's one of the newest members of our team, she makes everyone feel welcome and like they have someone to laugh with.

"The second reason why Courtni is so deserving of the BEE Award is how hardworking she has been from the start. PCTs do not have an easy job as it is, but especially being in Outpatient Surgery, because of how fast paced it is, our PCTs work extra hard. From the start, Courtni hit the ground running and hasn't wavered in her ability to always offer help, and in her contributions to give compassionate care to patients. Even though I can see how overwhelming it is being a PCT in such a fast-moving environment with a limited amount of other PCTs, Courtni is always willing to jump in!

"When I'm overwhelmed caring for my patients, I know I can go to Courtni and feel immediately supported, and I always know she's willing to offer what help she can. It's extremely valuable as a nurse to know I have a tech that has my back as much as Courtni does, and she deserves recognition daily for this. It truly is rare to find such a balance of compassion, support, stability, and hardworking attitude in someone working so tirelessly."
