Elevating Care: FY26 Q1 UVA Health University Medical Center Patient Experience Award Winners
Each quarter, the UVA Health University Medical Center Patient Experience Office proudly recognizes two departments within each survey service type with performance awards: Top Performer and Most Improved.
- Top Performer is awarded to the department that surpasses fiscal year targets in both key metrics — “Staff Work Together to Care for You” and either “Likelihood to Recommend,” “Rate Hospital/Facility,” or “Overall Rating” — achieving the highest combined variance to goal within its service category.
- Most Improved recognizes the department with the greatest quarter-over-quarter progress in those same core metrics.
This quarter, the Patient Experience Office had the privilege of presenting these awards in person and extending well-deserved congratulations to each recipient. We commend the honorees for their outstanding commitment and continuous efforts to elevate the patient experience across UVA Health University Medical Center.

5 South Transplant earned the Top Performer distinction by exceeding fiscal year targets in both “Staff Work Together to Care for You” and “Rate the Hospital 0–10.” With a combined variance to goal of 8.2 points, the team demonstrated exceptional reliability in delivering coordinated, compassionate care that consistently meets, and surpasses, patient expectations.

3 South Oncology achieved the Most Improved award after delivering a remarkable 22.7 point gain from FY25 Q4 to FY26 Q1 in “Staff Work Together to Care for You” and “Rate the Hospital 0–10.” This substantial progress highlights their commitment to strengthening teamwork, communication, and the overall care environment for patients and their families.

This growth reflects the team’s ongoing efforts to elevate the pediatric patient and family experience through empathy, collaboration, and exceptional daily practice.

Their performance demonstrates a consistent focus on delivering high quality, patient-centered dermatologic care.
