How UVA Health is Addressing the National Healthcare Staffing Shortage
The national healthcare staffing shortage has become an urgent public health crisis of its own. To put into perspective how this situation is impacting UVA Health and what is being done to address it, K. Craig Kent, MD, CEO of UVA Health, and Charles Bodden, Senior Director for Talent Acquisition and Retention, recently sat down for an engaging interview with Lisa Badeau, Chief Marketing and Communications Officer.
"We're going to do everything we possibly can to make it more conducive to be part of UVA Health, bring more people in to help those incredible workers that are already here doing their best to care for patients," Dr. Kent says in the video. "I would say it is our top priority right now to improve staffing to help the patients that want to come to UVA Health."
Watch the full interview for more, including the following topics: What are some of the best-in-class strategies being used to attract the top talent around the country? What are some of the creative solutions we are implementing to address the nursing shortage? What makes leadership optimistic UVA Health will emerge stronger from this challenging situation?
Part of this issue is all of the hard work we are doing, isn’t being appreciated! Especially for our “lower end” staff. Pay the people you have here vs. paying travelers so much more hourly. Also some of the changes in the policies over the past few years are causing people to leave as well.
