Dear Colleagues,

The University of Virginia has recruited an outstanding human resources leader in healthcare to lead all human resources operations for UVA Health. Please join us in welcoming Karmen Fittes, MBA, as UVA Health’s inaugural Chief of Human Resources.

Scheduled to begin her role on Sept. 1, Karmen will be joining us from the University of California, Davis, where she has served since 2016 as executive director of talent and rewards for the University, including its health system. In this role, Fittes has worked to attract, engage and retain team members by helping create a positive employee experience.

Karmen will lead HR for UVA Health, building on existing programs, establishing new initiatives, and supporting the overall strategy to recruit and retain the best talent to support UVA Health’s mission of transforming health and inspiring health for all Virginians and beyond. 

In welcoming Karmen, we also want to express our gratitude to the larger UVA Human Resources team for providing strong leadership as UVA Health continues on its quest to become the best public academic health system in the country. Please join us in welcoming Karmen as she joins our team in September.
