‘Kudos to Kylee!’: Colleagues Rave About UVA Health Team Member’s ‘Infectiously Positive’ Attitude

Learn how this medical assistant welcomes new team members, supports current ones, takes great care of patients, helped launch a new clinic, and all along — offered a "calm, comforting presence."

Several UVA Health team members hail Kylee Lambert, Medical Assistant, Ambulatory, for making the Breast Clinic "safer, stronger — and more compassionate and connected!"

UVA Health Gynecologic Oncologist and UVA School of Medicine Associate Professor Leigh Cantrell, MD, MSPH, and Jenny Ernest, Nursing Governance Coordinator, Nursing Professional Governance Office, surprised Lambert with a BEE (Being Excellent Everyday) Award.

'Solid Foundation'

Julie Zaydfudim, BSN, RN: "Kylee has played an essential role in the success and stability of our team, particularly through her dedication to precepting new team members. She has precepted every new hire — from core staff to lab technicians — and consistently provides them with the support, patience, and knowledge they need to feel confident in their roles. Her commitment has strengthened the team and ensured that new team members start with a solid foundation.

"Kylee also has been instrumental in preparing for the opening of the third floor clinic. She took the initiative in ordering supplies, organizing equipment, and helping ensure the new space is ready for patient care. Her attention to detail and her willingness to take on additional responsibilities make a significant difference in creating a smooth and successful launch.

"In addition, patients absolutely adore Kylee! She has a calm, comforting presence and naturally provides peace and reassurance during moments that can be stressful or overwhelming. Her clinical skills — especially in lab draws and IV placement — are exceptional, and patients frequently express appreciation for her gentleness and confidence.

"Kylee always is eager to learn new processes, adapt to changes, and support the team in any way she can. She has become the go-to person for core staff, care coordinators, and providers alike whenever questions or needs arise. Her reliability, positivity, and depth of knowledge make her an invaluable member of our clinic.

"Kylee’s excellence is recognized continuously by providers and colleagues. The comments below reflect what we see from Kylee every single day. She is always willing to learn new processes, assist anywhere she is needed, and approach every situation with professionalism, kindness, and a positive attitude.

"Kylee makes our clinic safer, stronger — and more compassionate and connected! She embodies excellence and teamwork in everything she does. She is truly deserving of the BEE Award!"

'Confidence and Kindess'

Carrie Kilby, RN, BSN: "Kylee was incredible today! We had a patient come to clinic ... after the drainage procedure in Radiology. It was determined the patient needed two additional procedures in clinic. Kylee jumped right into the situation and took control of what needed to get done. Not only that, but she stayed in the room, ran back and forth gathering supplies, and kept her eyes on the patient. She handled everything with such confidence and kindness. She is a true asset to this team. I am so grateful to work with her!"

Positive and Patient-Centered

Dora Irvin, LPN: “Kudos to Kylee Lambert! She assisted me by drawing labs on a dementia patient. Even though it took two sticks, the patient was able to be talked through the process."

Another team member also shared her appreciation for Kylee’s consistent positivity and patient-centered approach: “Kylee, thank you for stepping up today and every day! This team is fortunate to have you — I appreciate that you are always patient-centered, ‘infectiously positive,’ efficient, and so much more!”
