Missed the Last Medical Center Hour? No Problem — We Got Your Back!

On Wednesday, April 7, Medical Center hour finished its 50th season of programming by featuring surgeon, best-selling author, and public thought leader Dr. Atul Gawande in conversation with three young UVA physicians about healthcare in the U.S. beyond COVID.

What's in store for this nation's healthcare systems and practitioners, our population, and the priorities and socioeconomics of health, healthcare, and public health — already stressed pre-COVID — as we emerge from this pandemic, even as we also contemplate new and necessary healthcare reforms? All of this is discussed in the below video from the final Medical Center Hour of the season, "Healthcare Beyond COVID — A Conversation."

Speakers included Atul Gawande, MD, MPH, Surgeon, Brigham & Women's Hospital; Professor, Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health and Harvard Medical School; Co-Founder, CIC Health; author of ComplicationsBetterThe Checklist Manifesto, and Being Mortal; staff writer, The New Yorker magazine; former member, Biden-Harris Transition COVID-19 Advisory Board; Sthuthi David, MD, chief resident, Department of Medicine, UVA; Calvin Dorsey, SMD 2021, UVA; and Lydia Prokosch, SMD 2022, UVA; Marcia Day Childress, PhD, moderator. This Edward W. Hook Lecture in Medicine and the Arts / Medicine Grand Rounds was co-presented with the Department of Medicine.
