Each year, the Nursing Excellence Awards recognize nurses and their interprofessional colleagues for compassion, expertise, exemplary patient care, and teamwork.

"This year, we have a lot to honor," said Veronica Brill, RN, Interim Chief Nursing Officer, during the live broadcast. "As much as we would like to put [the] coronavirus behind us, let's pause to remember all that we've been through as a country and as a hospital and recognize that our nurses continue to carry us through this pandemic."

Barb Trotter, RN, Professional Nursing Staff Organization (PNSO) President, and TJ Lovdal, RN, PNSO President-Elect, hosted the ceremony, which was held virtually for the first time in its 21-year history.

"Each and every one of you has worked harder than ever these past 14 months, and each an every one of you deserves to be celebrated," said Trotter. "From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for every single thing you have done. You are incredible people, and we are so grateful for every single one of you."
