New Platform Launching Aug. 20 to Help Improve Healthcare Provider Performance and Patient Outcomes
UVA Health Continuing Education (CE) is excited to share a significant advancement benefiting our healthcare learners! Karen Rheuban, MD, Co-Founder and Director, UVA Center for Telehealth and Senior Associate Dean for CME and External Affairs, reports CloudCME will be implemented Aug. 20, 2024.
It will replace up to seven systems with one cohesive platform supporting Joint Accreditation and meeting the diverse needs of our learners. “We will provide tools and resources to all course directors and departmental coordinators for courses and conferences, as well as training on the system,” says Dr. Rheuban. “Additionally, we will send an email to all of our CE course audiences, informing them of the transition and assuring them that all of their past CE records will be available in the new system.”
The UVA Health pediatric cardiologist and UVA School of Medicine Professor of Pediatrics adds, “I am grateful to our Director of Continuing Professional Development Melodye Farrar, MAEd, CHCP, CMP-HC, and our entire team, for their careful analysis of all potential platforms resulting in the selection of CloudCME as our UVA Health learning platform.”
“We’re confident the implementation of CloudCME will enhance significantly our ability to provide evidence-based, engaging, and lifelong learning opportunities that ultimately improve healthcare provider performance and patient outcomes,” explains Farrar.
Learners, speakers, and course directors will experience several key advantages of CloudCME:
- Easy Single Sign-On: UVA faculty and staff will be able to log into the CloudCME platform using their UVA Computing ID and password. This eliminates the need to remember another password. Non-UVA learners may sign on with their email and password.
- User-Friendly Interface: Learners will benefit from an intuitive platform that offers easy searching for CE courses by topic or specialty, quick course registration, and simple access to claim credits, online CE content, evaluations, certificates/transcripts, and syllabi — creating a seamless and intuitive user experience.
- Automated Course Syllabus: As speakers upload their presentations into CloudCME, the platform auto-generates a syllabus with presentations and handouts, accessible from the mobile app or on any computer. Learners also may take notes in their digital syllabus, which are stored for future reference. This provides learners with reference materials during and after the course, enhancing their ability to continue to improve performance when they return to their practice.
- Streamlined Speaker Prep: CloudCME manages speaker disclosures, agendas, agreements, presentations, resumes, bios, photos, and travel information — so they can focus on developing their presentation. It’ll be easier for speakers to upload information, provide handouts and reference documents to their audience, while ensuring a more organized and professional experience overall.
- Comprehensive Evaluation and Reporting: Course directors and planning committee members will benefit from customizable evaluations that include faculty and objective assessments, as well as documentation of learners’ intent to change. This advanced feedback reporting facilitates improvements in planning for future courses.
- Fast and Efficient CE Credit Documentation: Healthcare learners can document effortlessly their attendance at CE activities via text, the CloudCME mobile app, or on their PC. Once documented, their credits immediately appear on their transcripts — simplifying the process of tracking their continuing education. Learners also may upload credits received from non-UVA providers so all their CE records are stored in one convenient place.
- Enhanced Mobile Accessibility: The dedicated mobile app available for iOS and Android allows learners to easily claim credits, complete evaluations, view syllabi, download transcripts, and take notes within the app.
This ensures learning is accessible anytime, anywhere.
