Oct. 14: UVA Medical Center Blood Drive
The American Red Cross is launching an emergency appeal for blood donors in response to widespread blood and platelet shortages. Fall is typically a time when the blood supply rebounds from summer blood shortages. However, donor turnout has decreased by about 10%, as COVID-19 cases began to surge in August. Currently, the blood supply is at the lowest post-summer level since 2015.
The American Red Cross is UVA Health’s primary supplier of blood products and needs your help. Eligible donors are asked to make an appointment to give now and help save patient lives.
