UVA Health University Medical Center Chief Medical Officer Reid Adams, MD, and BEE Award Committee Chair Hannah Kolpack surprised Heather Campbell, Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) , 5 South, Organ Transplant, with a BEE (Being Excellent Everyday) Award.

Every month, the Nursing Professiona Governance Organizatino (NPGO) honors up to two UVA Health University Medical Center team members with this award.

She prioritizes this essential aspect of care, ensuring that patients feel dignified and comfortable. Heather takes the time to shampoo patients' hair, a gesture that might seem simple but has a profound impact on their overall well-being. She understands that these acts of care contribute significantly to a patient's self-esteem and sense of normalcy during their hospital stay.

"Heather also goes above and beyond by taking patients outside to get fresh air. This thoughtful action not only improves their physical well-being but also lifts their spirits, providing a refreshing break from the confines of the hospital environment. "Moreover, Heather's proactive communication with the RN [registered nurse] team is exemplary.
