South Tower Lights Up for Metastatic Breast Cancer Awareness Day
On the evening of Wednesday, Oct. 13, the South Tower turned pink, teal, and green for Metastatic Breast Cancer Awareness Day. Cancer can metastasize (spread) from the breasts to other parts of the body months or even years after successful treatment. According to METAvivor Research and Support Inc., 98% of all breast cancer deaths are a result of metastatic breast cancer.
Why pink, teal, and green? Here’s what they symbolize, Metavivor notes:
- Green: Renewal, hope, and immortality
- Teal: Healing and spirituality
- Pink: Metastatic cancer that originated in the breast
