UVA Health Prince William Medical Center in Manssas, Virginia congratulates DAISY Award winner Pooja Bhatta, BSN, RN. Originally from Nepal, Bhatta has been a nurse since 2015 and has worked for UVA Health Prince William Medical Center for four years, starting in the medical-surgical unit then moving to the Intensive Care Cardiac Unit.

'An Excellent Nurse!'

Pooja was nominated by a patient:

“This was quite a stressful experience for me — scary! Pooja Bhatta was cheerful and upbeat and quelled a lot of my anxieties. She was compassionate and anticipated a lot of my needs and questions, communicating with Dr. Raza Yunus when appropriate. My son, who is a pediatrician in Seattle, was very concerned about me and Pooja facilitated contact with Dr. Yunus so that my son was able to talk with him directly before he decided to come east for the weekend."

"She communicated what she was going to do before she did it and showed me the lay of the land like how to order meals, what she recommends, and so on. Pooja was very kind and friendly to all of my family: my husband who was here during the day and my son when he arrived. She was an excellent nurse! I can tell she cares about her work and tries to do her best at all times. She collaborated with the medical professionals and my family. She is awesome! Well done, Pooja!"

Bhatta adds that knowing her efforts make a difference fills her heart with joy and gratitude. "This award motivates me to dream bigger, work harder, and strive to inspire and contribute. It’s a celebration of my journey and the incredible support I’ve received from those who believed in me. I’m truly overjoyed and deeply honored!” she says.

Pooja plans to continue providing compassionate, patient-focused care while always striving to her best. She hopes to grow her skills, set a positive example, and support others in delivering high quality nursing care.
