July 14: Vocera Maintenance Begins at 9 p.m.

Tonight (Wednesday, July 14) HIT will perform patch management on the Vocera Application. This will also result in the ability to add and remove users from Vocera text conversations.

During the maintenance, there will be noticeable events.

First, all Vocera Badges will reboot after new firmware is applied. You will hear “badge firmware is being updated” followed shortly thereafter by the badge automatically reloading. This process will not interrupt any ongoing voice calls.

Second, there will be a 10+ minute period in which SmartBadges and Vocera VCS (phone) users will be unable to utilize the application. B3000 (aka “stick badge”) users will not be impacted during the 10+ minute window for voice utilization.

When we are close to performing the steps necessary that will invoke the 10+ minute short interruption, a broadcast voice message will be sent to all users of the system.  If you are at home using VCS, you will not receive this voice broadcast.

Another email will follow tonight once the maintenance window is completed. We expect this around 1 a.m.
