‘Truly a Cornerstone’: Brianna Jacobs Ensures Personalized Attention for Patients
"In a large and complex organization like our Emily Couric Clinical Cancer Center, Bri's ability to provide this steady and reliable point of contact is invaluable."
UVA Health University Medical Center Chief Medical Officer Reid Adams, MD, and BEE Award Committee Co-Chair Victoria Gibbons surprised Brianna Jacobs, Senior Access Associate, Oncology Scheduling, with a BEE (Being Excellent Everyday) Award.
Every month, the Nursing Professional Governance Organization (NPGO) honors up to two UVA Health University Medical Center team members with this award.
Adrienne Banavage nominated Jacobs:
"Brianna 'Bri' Jacobs is truly a cornerstone of our infusion center team, making a significant impact on patient progression, safety, and engagement every day. Her role as an embedded scheduler is vital — she collaborates closely with our nursing team to ensure patients are scheduled efficiently and appropriately.
"Bri's ability to identify potential openings in the schedule is invaluable. Her skill in navigating these tight schedules helps us to accommodate patients with urgent needs promptly, ensuring they receive the care they need safely and in a timely manner. Bri's dedication and expertise not only keep our operations running smoothly but also enhance the overall patient experience, reflecting her integral role in our team's success.
"Since joining our team in 2020, Bri has been a steadfast and integral presence in our infusion center. As a consistent point of contact for our non-oncology patients, she plays a crucial role in scheduling and rescheduling appointments. Bri's friendly and professional demeanor allows her to effectively collaborate with chronically ill patients who require ongoing therapy while balancing work, family, and health concerns.
"In a large and complex organization like our Emily Couric Clinical Cancer Center, Bri's ability to provide this steady and reliable point of contact is invaluable. Her dedication ensures that patients receive the personalized attention they need, contributing significantly to both their care experience and our operational efficiency.
"Bri has made a contribution to our infusion center's overall efficiency. In the past nine months, Bri has contributed to an almost 7% increase in our chair occupancy with a correlating increase in our scheduled chair usage of more than 10%. It is a pleasure to submit this nomination."
