UVA Enlighten: New Path for Medical Center Team Members to Earn College Degree
UVA Health University Medical Center leadership and UVA's School of Continuing and Professional Studies recently launched a new program — UVA Enlighten — that aligns with UVA Health’s journey to be a best place to work.
This program, designed for University Medical Center team members, provides the first step in attaining an undergraduate degree. Through Enlighten, students will earn 36 undergraduate credits while strengthening skills that boost their performance at work. Tailored for working professionals, the flexible, online courses focus on essential skills — including biomedical ethics, business and professional writing, and digital literacy — with seamless credit transfer options into a UVA Bachelor’s Completion Program.
Wendy Horton, PharmD, MBA, Chief Executive Officer, UVA Health University Medical Center explains: “The UVA Enlighten program is a testament to our commitment to fostering a culture of continuous learning and empowerment at UVA Health. With UVA Enlighten, we're not just shaping careers; we're shaping the future of healthcare."
For eligible team members, the program can be almost entirely funded through the University’s education benefits, and there are minimal out-of-pocket costs for students. UVA Enlighten is now accepting applications through May 15.
The School of Continuing and Professional Studies will host an information session for all prospective students on Tuesday, March 19, noon-1 p.m. Team members can register here. Learn more about UVA Enlighten.
