UVA Health Supply Chain Manager Jumps Into Action During Storm With ‘Patient-First Mindset’
"Renee Raffanello is a team member whose actions speak volumes about what it means to be excellent every day."
Renee Raffanello, Supply Chain Supervisor, Procedural, UVA Health Culpeper, Haymarket, and Prince William Medical Centers, is being honored with the BEE (Being Excellent Everyday) Award. Recipients earn a certificate and a BEE pin — a wearable symbol of honor that signifies the team member’s commitment to collaboration and excellence and a shared purpose in achieving seamless, patient-focused care across our health system.
Rena Cohen-Kurzrock, Manager, Supply Chain, UVA Health Culpeper, Haymarket, and Prince William Medical Centers, nominated Raffanello for the honor:
'Extraordinary Resilience and Leadership'
"Renee is a team member whose actions speak volumes about what it means to be excellent every day. She is the first to arrive and last to leave her shift, and she supports our patients and our nursing team by giving without hesitation or request. While Renee’s dedication is evident in her daily responsibilities, a snowstorm showcased her extraordinary resilience and leadership."
"Despite recovering from surgery on both hands and facing personal physical limitations, Renee was the first to report to work as a winter storm severely impacted staffing levels across multiple sites. Understanding the urgent need, she jumped into action — collaborating with operating rooms, and anesthesia and endoscopy departments, to ensure essential supplies were in place. Under her manager’s guidance, she'd already taken the initiative to stock procedural units at all three hospitals ahead of the storm, helping the system avoid major disruptions in care."
'Unwavering Professionalism, Teamwork, and Dedication'
"Her proactive efforts didn’t stop there. Renee stayed late, coordinated across teams, and made sure every procedural unit had the resources needed to deliver uninterrupted care. Colleagues describe her as one of the hardest working individuals at UVA Health — someone who not only supports one medical center, but three. Her consistent presence, reliability, and patient-first mindset are deeply valued by her peers and leadership alike."
“Renee’s unwavering professionalism, teamwork, and dedication embody UVA Health’s ASPIRE values. Without her leadership and effort, especially during critical moments like the snowstorm, our teams would face significant challenges. Her story is just one example of how she shows up, every day, to ensure we can provide the highest level of care.”
