UVA Vaccination Efforts Shifting to Community, Here’s How Availability of First-Dose Appointments Will Be Impacted

Dear UVA Health Colleagues,

The supply of vaccine available for administration within UVA is being reduced, and UVA Health must refocus vaccination activities to serve community groups identified by the Blue Ridge Health District. As a result, the availability of first dose appointments at the Education Resource Center (ERC) will be ending soon.

All existing second-dose appointments will proceed as scheduled.

Actions unvaccinated team members should take now:

We are aware that you may have scheduled your first dose visit after Jan. 31 due to your self-assessed level of risk, travel plans, or other factors. If you are unable to complete your first dose visit by Feb. 5, you will still be eligible to receive the vaccine, however, you must book your appointment through the Blue Ridge Health District. If possible, we strongly encourage you to reschedule your vaccination visit prior to the Feb. 5 cut-off.

Automatic Visit Cancellations:  All first-dose vaccination appointments will be automatically cancelled after the Febr. 5 cut-off, and you will have to schedule your vaccination through the Blue Ridge Health District.
IMPORTANT NOTIFICATION TO ALL UVA STUDENTS, FACULTY, AND STAFF

All UVA students, faculty and staff who have not been directly notified that they are eligible to be vaccinated during Phase 1a of the vaccine roll-out are asked to cancel their appointments. Anyone who is not eligible for vaccination during Phase 1a but has booked an appointment will be turned away at the clinic door. We are not able to vaccinate individuals in Phase 1b or 1c unless specifically directed by the Blue Ridge Health District. To learn more about your eligibility for vaccination, visit the Blue Ridge Health District’s website.
