
Update #4: Weather Advisory for Feb. 20

Dear team members,
As of this morning, the National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Winter Storm Advisory for areas across southern and central Virginia for potential new snow accumulation of 1 inch. Charlottesville and Albemarle County are not included in this advisory. To allow time for snow to be cleared along our bus and shuttle routes, we will modify parking and transportation for today (please see details below). For ambulatory, we will resume normal operations at most clinics, though please check the Operations Status Board for the latest information. University Hospital will remain under normal operations.
Parking and Transportation for Thursday, 2/20/2025.
- Close-in parking permit holders should park in regularly assigned parking locations.
- For remote parkers who normally park and ride transit service, there will be no Redline transit service from the Scott Stadium lots.
- Parking and transit options will be based on arrival time, not shift start time. See the schedule below.
- UTS will be operating the Inclement Weather Blue Line beginning at 5 a.m. with service scheduled until 8 p.m. to Emmet/Ivy and John Paul Jones Garages.
- If you arrive before 5 a.m., park at the Emmet / Ivy Garage and ride the Health System Transportation Services (HSTS) shuttle bus.

Update #3: Weather Advisory for Feb. 19-20
Dear Team Members,
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Winter Storm Advisory for Albemarle and surrounding counties until 7 p.m. tonight, with 1-2 inches of snow accumulation forecasted for today and less than once inch of new snow accumulation predicted for tomorrow. Many of our ambulatory clinics moved to modified operations this afternoon. Please check the status board for individual listings. Additionally, we will continue to modify parking and transportation for tomorrow. Managers: please verbally share this information with your staff, as needed.

Weather Advisory for Feb. 19-20 — Parking and Transportation Guidance
Dear Team Members,
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Winter Storm Watch for Albemarle and surrounding counties, which may receive heavy snow in some areas (3-6 inches) beginning Wednesday morning and into Thursday. However, forecasts are currently disagreeing on exact snowfall levels across the area. At this time, local weather sources are predicting 1-2 inches of snow for Charlottesville and Albemarle County. Given this, our plan is to modify parking and transportation for tomorrow, but otherwise maintain normal operations. Please see below for details. Weather Advisory for Feb. 19-20
UVA Health Team Members,
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a hazardous Weather Outlook between Tuesday night and Thursday morning, during which the forecast is predicting 2-5 inches of snow with no ice accumulations. While we will continue to monitor conditions, we do not anticipate making operational changes at this time. However, the forecast continues to evolve so this guidance is subject to change. Please continue to check your email and Operations Status Board for the latest information.
Awareness
- Monitor weather forecasts via the National Weather Service, local media, and Virginia511 (for traffic and road conditions).
