Winter Weather Advisory #4: Accommodations and Ambulatory Schedules
Posted Dec. 8 at 5:50 p.m.
UVA Health Colleagues,
Snowfall has decreased significantly across our area over the past several hours, allowing the Red and Blue lines to continue operating on their normal routes. At the same time, we are closely monitoring the forecast for tomorrow, which currently calls for a significant drop in temperature that could make travel more challenging in the early morning hours.
As such, the following operational changes have been made:
- Ambulatory Schedules. Most ambulatory clinics will have a delayed start until 10 a.m., though some clinics may open earlier based on patient needs and/or localized impacts. Details can be found via our Operations Status Board.
- Safety. For those walking around University Medical Center grounds, please ensure you are wearing the appropriate footwear, take slow and careful steps, and restrict your routes to those that have been cleared by our Facilities team. Do not walk through areas that may be slippery and/or unsafe. To report an icy patch or area that needs clearing at a UVA Health facility, call 434-924-2267.
- Accommodations. To support team members who may be unable to travel this evening, accommodations have been organized within University Hospital. If you need accommodations, please inform your manager. From there, visit the Main Lobby Information Desk at 6:00 p.m. to check in and receive your bed assignment, meal voucher, toiletry kit, linens, and Sani-Wipes. Rooms must be vacated by tomorrow morning at 6 a.m. to prepare for patient arrivals. Please do not swap rooms after they have been assigned.
- Lodging Options. If you prefer to directly coordinate lodging outside of the University Medical Center, we have partnered with the following hotels to provide team members with additional lodging options. Winter Weather Advisory: Most Ambulatory Clinics Closed
UVA Health Colleagues,
At this time, the Central and Southern parts of Virginia are expected to see additional snow and freezing temperatures as we head into the afternoon. Out of an abundance of caution, the decision has been made to close most Ambulatory clinics for the day, with some clinics maintaining operations based on patient needs and localized impacts. For inpatient teams, we are currently maintaining normal operations, though encouraging early discharges when it is safe to do so. Parking & Transportation is continuing to run its Red and Blue lines. Our leadership will be meeting again at noon to determine operations for the remainder of the day.
