Dear UVA Health Team Members,

Today, thanks to your focus on patient safety and your dedication to continuous improvement, we were able to announce as a system that all four of UVA Health’s medical centers have received an ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, an organization committed to reviewing and rating hospitals across the country on their quality and safety performance.

This is a tremendous accomplishment for UVA Health that represents an extraordinary commitment to provide the safest and highest quality of care for our patients. The grade is based on more than 30 national performance measures that track errors, injuries, accidents, and infections, as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent harm. Receiving an ‘A’ denotes our commitment to not only safety, but to setting a standard for excellence in care delivery that ranks among the very best in the country. Superior patient outcomes is a key imperative in our strategic plan and all of us on the UVA Health leadership team are so proud of this tremendous accomplishment. Every single person in our hospitals makes a positive difference and we are proud to celebrate them.
