New Dashboard Project Aims to Empower Providers by Putting Key Data in One Place

High-quality data and analytics help benchmark progress, highlight potential issues and opportunities for improvement, and spotlight excellence for celebration and learning.

As part of UVA Health’s ongoing journey to enhance our data and analytics capabilities, and strengthen our foundation, health system leaders have commissioned the development of a new Provider Dashboard that will display individual provider metrics in one place. Targeted for launch in spring 2024, the project scope spans all UVA Health providers with a scheduling template or a surgical schedule, as well as anesthesia providers.

Why a Provider Dashboard?

In our current state, providers must pull their individual data from multiple locations. The new dashboard will aggregate the most useful metrics by provider in one readily accessible location. It will help providers verify that their data is accurate, track their progress against goals, and diagnose operational issues, among other uses. Where possible, the dashboard will include benchmarking data so providers may see how their metrics compare to their specialty peers and nationally.

“UVA Health providers work incredibly hard in service of their patients, learners, our research mission, and our communities. We are excited to create this new tool that will empower them to better tell the story of their practices,” noted Chief Ambulatory Operations Officer John Bennett, MPA.

Creating the Dashboard

Multi-disciplinary workgroups with provider representation from across UVA Health will focus on developing this dashboard with ambulatory, surgical and anesthesia metrics. Surgical and anesthesia providers will see both ambulatory and surgical/anesthesia metrics on the same dashboard.

Metrics around patient experience, quality, productivity, and access are expected to be featured on the new dashboard. A beta site will be developed so that providers may test the new tool and provide feedback to the workgroups. The project aims to deliver the test site this winter and finalize the dashboard for launch in the spring.
