Barry Reynolds Earns BEE Award as Daughters, Who Are Also UVA Health Team Members, Join the Surprise
"Proactive, professional, positive, and can fix just about anything!"
It's an honor to earn a BEE (Being Excellent Everyday) Award at UVA Health University Medical Center —after all, only up to two team members are recognized this way by the Nursing Professional Governance Organization (NPGO) each month.
For Kenneth "Barry" Reynolds, Facilities Management — the moment proved to be even more special, as his daughters — who are also UVA Health team members — witnessed the occasion! Chelsea Reynolds, who also works for Facilities Management, and Brittney Reynolds, of Magnetic Resonance Imaging, watched as their father was surprised with the BEE Award by Chief Operating Officer Min Lee, and NPGO Nursing Recognition and Retention Specialist Ashley Noguera, PMP.
'Lasting Impression'
Molly Caton-Biggs, 3 Central, Genny Lawless, 3 West, and Sarah Kaplan, Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU), submitted nominations on behalf of each of their units:
"In the last couple years, the general medicine units have gotten to know Barry from Facilities Management/Maintenance. His work ethic and calm, friendly demeaner has left a lasting impression on our service and we want to recognize him for all that he does."
From 3 Central:
"Barry is a prime example of how team members from different departments at UVA Health can work well together. While he doesn't provide direct patient care, he understands that his work is important to the patient care experience.
"He is proactive and checks in with our unit regularly to see if we need his help. He is a hard worker and goes above and beyond in identifying and completing tasks in a timely manner. There have been multiple times where we have asked for his assistance, and he is on the unit within minutes. Barry has also made an effort to get to know our staff to the point that he has become like another member of our team.
"His friendly and easy demeaner he brings a calm presence on our unit. We are so grateful for Barry and all he does for 3 Central!"
From 3 West:
"Seeing a maintenance cart parked in the hallway on 3 West ... is a sure sign that our favorite Facilities partner, Barry, is not far away. Barry is not only a ray of light each day, but also a prime example of a UVA Health team member who exemplifies all our ASPIRE values.
"Barry is proactive, professional, positive, and can fix just about anything! He is a stellar communicator and never turns down the opportunity to help us out — whether is he is changing out damaged/mismatched ceiling tiles, patching scuffs on the walls, installing storage space so we could have feminine hygiene products in our visitor bathrooms, or putting WD40 on a squeaky walker wheel.
"Barry is constantly hard at work trying to make our hospital a better place. Barry is the BEST!"
From MICU:
"To think of all the countless times that Barry has come to the rescue in our MICU would take me quite a while. He has been such a dependable Facilities partner who follows through with identified tasks and needs for our MICU space over the years.
"The unique part of this partnership is Barry's neverending positivity and kindness with any and all jobs that are sent his way. He works diligently to meet the needs of the unit and does so with such a lighthearted attitude, warm smile, and jovial greeting! Barry is so appreciated for his work as well as his kindness!"
