Severe Weather Advisory
Dear Team Members,
At this time, UVA Health’s University Medical Center is monitoring for potential operational impacts due to Tropical Storm Debby, which is expected to impact our area beginning late Wednesday afternoon through Saturday morning, during which we anticipate heavy rainfall, flash flooding, and the potential for tornadoes. The most severe weather is expected Thursday and Friday.
Please note the following guidance:
- Monitor weather forecasts via the National Weather Service, local media, and Virginia511 (for traffic and road conditions), as well as email updates from Emergency Management regarding operational changes.
- Register your mobile number in your UVA Alerts account to receive alerts by text, and consider an emergency alert app, like Guardian, FEMA orthe Red Cross.
- Go to Severe Weather | Ready.gov to learn more about preparedness, staying safe during the storm and returning home.
- For up-to-date information on clinic openings, as well as guidance for both designated and non-designated team members, visit our Operations Status Board.
- If you have questions about your designation status, please work with your supervisor.
We will continue to monitor the storm’s severity and will distribute additional communications about any operational impacts, as needed. In the meantime, please be aware of your local forecast and stay safe.
