On April 9, the UVA Health Leadership Institute, UVA Darden School of Business, and UVA School of Data Science hosted an engaging evening exploring the transformative role of artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare, featuring insights from industry leaders and peers. Speakers included Dr. Girish Nadkarni, Chair, Windreich Department of AI and Human Health at Mount Sinai, and a panel of experts, including Scott Beardsley (moderator), Dean, Darden School of Business; Philip Bourne, Dean, UVA School of Data Science; Dr. Scott Just, CEO, UVA Physicians Group; Dr. Meg Keeley, Senior Associate Dean, UVA School of Medicine; and Vivian Riefberg, Professor of Practice, Darden School of Business.
AI in healthcare may assist in early detection of ailments, improve decision making, help in treatments, offer expanded access to medical services, provide associated care, give a superior experience, allow monitoring of health through wearable devices, and assist with end-of-life care.
