New Emergency Department Ambulance Bay Opens for Emergency Transport

As UVA Health prepares for the opening of its new, expanded Emergency Department (ED), the ambulance bay will move to a new location on Crispell Drive. Beginning at 7 a.m. on August 19, 2019 all emergency transports should access this new ambulance bay. Keeping our agency partners informed to ensure we are all able to deliver the high-quality care our patients need is a priority during this time of change. Following are details about our new entry and access processes.

 Directions

  • All local and regional agencies should continue to use their preferred routes to UVA Medical Center located at 1215 Lee Street
  • Please note: Agencies should avoid using Lane Road to access Crispell Drive for incoming transports
  • From Lee Street, proceed west on Crispell Drive to access the new ambulance bay behind the hospital (located near the morgue entrance)
  • Pull up to the gate arm and it will automatically open
  • Park parallel with the wall and ambulance bay doors
  • Out-of-area agencies can use Google maps or GPS to find their way to 1215 Lee Street, following ED/Ambulance signage when in the area of UVA Medical Center
    • From the North — take 29 South, stay on Emmet Street to Jefferson Park Avenue; turn right on Lee Street to ED entrance
    • From South, East, or West — take I-64 to exit 120 (5th Street); take left on Cherry Avenue; turn right on Roosevelt Brown; turn left on Lee Street
  • Medcom is available by phone at 434.924.9287 for additional directions if needed
  • When exiting the ambulance bay, crews should use Lane Road to Jefferson Park Avenue
