‘Your Impact Matters Deeply’: 2026 UVA Health Service Awards Celebrate Hundreds of Longtime Team Members

Congratulations to the hundreds of team members marking milestone anniversaries at UVA Health this year!

At two summer events, UVA Health leaders honored University Medical Center, UVA School of Medicine, and UVA School of Nursing team members in a wide range of fields who've dedicated much or all of their careers to UVA Health for one to five decades! (Below, view photo galleries for each event!)

At a June 5 luncheon: 140 team members with 10, 15, and 20 years of service were recognized. See a list of all the honorees in the program. At an Aug. 3 dinner: 110 team members with 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, and 50 years of service were lauded. See a list of all the honorees in the program.

Best Place to Work

Attendees reunited with colleagues and made new friends, posed in selfie photo booths, danced to a DJ, selected UVA Bookstore gifts, enjoyed a meal, and heard from leaders.

On June 5, that included a video message from Mitchell Rosner, MD, MACP, FRCP, CEO, UVA Health, and EVP for Health Affairs, UVA, to honorees: "Your impact matters deeply. As we continue to grow and evolve as an integrated, academic health system — you provide the experience, stability, and sense of purpose that help move us forward." UVA School of Medicine Dean Colin Derdeyn, MD, welcomed and thanked attendees in-person.

At the Aug. 3 dinner, on-site leadership included Dr. Rosner; Dean Derdeyn; and pictured below, from left: UVA HR Senior Director of Service Katy Hoffman, University Medical Center Chief Nursing Officer Kathy Baker, PhD, RN, NE-BC, FAAN, and University Medical Center Chief Financial Officer Mike Marquardt, CHFP.

Hoffman welcomed attendees: "In celebrating your legacy, we recognize not simply your years of service, but all you've accomplished in service to our team members, faculty, and patients, as well as all the areas your work has touched."

Dr. Rosner (below) shared personal insights: "As someone who's spent my entire career at UVA Health, I can say this place is special because of our people. Tonight is especially meaningful to me, because I recognize so many of you — not just by name or title, but from our shared years of work. My wife, Michelle [below], is here celebrating 30 years of service at UVA Health."

"We met at work when I was a resident and she was a nurse. Both of us feel very fortunate to have spent our careers at UVA Health and work in an environment that has such a strong culture of celebrating and supporting one another. Tonight is about all of you and the meaningful commitments you've made to UVA Health."

Dr, Rosner also pointed out the significance of Aug. 3, 2026 for new University Medical Center CEO Tammy Snyder, MPH (below): "Many of you have been here for 35, 40, even 50 years — today, Tammy has successfully completed her first work day at UVA Health. Tammy, may you enjoy your career here as much as we all have!"

Dr. Rosner shone the spotlight on one of UVA Health's longest serving team members, Alice "Becky" Wilmer (below) — hailed as diligent, detail-oriented, adaptable. As an administrative assistant for UVA Health Continuum Home Health, Wilmer stays on top of new information and new computer systems. She's developed relationships with doctors and clinics across the state, acting as an ambassador for UVA Health. Colleagues call her a good friend who's reliable, pleasant, and a sharp dresser! "Becky, we are very grateful for your 50 years of service!" Dr. Rosner praised.

Dean Derdeyn (below) commended UVA School of Medicine longtime team members as "some of the best stewards of our culture — setting an example for the next generation of students, residents, staff, and physicians."

Summed up Hoffman: "Without you, UVA Health would not be the institution it is today. And as we look to our future, we know the promise of our next century has been made possible in part by the legacies of people in this room and their predecessors."
