‘Every Touchpoint Matters’: UVA Community Health Celebrates 2026 Patient Experience Week
“The sum of all interactions, shaped by an organization’s culture, that influence patient perceptions across the continuum of care.”
2026 Patient Experience Week at UVA Community Health, April 27-May 1, honored all our team members for supporting our UVA Health mission of transforming health and inspiring hope for all Virginians and beyond, and strategic plan goals and initiatives.
Culpeper, Haymarket, and Prince William Medical Centers, and Medical Group, celebrated those who elevate the patient experience: clinical teams, non-clinical staff, support services, leaders, volunteers, and more. Each role plays a powerful part in shaping how patients and their families feel, heal, and remember their care journey.
"Patient Experience Week is all about celebrating the incredible people who make every moment of care meaningful across our health system," says Courtney Elliott, Director of Patient Experience, UVA Community Health. "From lifechanging milestones to the small, thoughtful interactions that leave a lasting impression — every touchpoint matters, and so does every person behind it!"
Team members enjoyed a wide range of events such as recognition, virtual challenges with chances to win prizes, learnings, standout insights, and more:
Key elements of patient experience include:
- Clear, compassionate communication with patients and families.
- Coordinated care across providers and settings.
- Respectful, empathetic treatment that honors patient preferences.
- Comfortable, healing environment that supports rest and recovery.
- Patient involvement in care decisions and planning.
