Apply for UVA Health Leadership Institute Cohort Five, applications open April 1
- Why It Matters: The UVA Health Leadership Institute (HLI) was created to help grow the next generation of leaders from within. Cohort Five applications open April 1 for team members across UVA Health with strong leadership potential — whether you lead a team or aspire to.

Prepare for hand sanitizer site assessments, April 7–9
- Why It Matters: As part of our vendor transition to GOJO Industries (PURELL), teams are assessing current sanitizer dispenser placements to ensure hand hygiene stations best support patient safety and infection prevention.

- Why It Matters: Emails from Stryker have been unblocked following the completion of a third-party security assessment of their systems, due to a recent cyberattack. UVA Health systems remain secure, and we are confident in resuming normal email contact.

March 24 Update | Did you know: We opened a new pharmacy services facility
- Why It Matters: UVA Health has opened a new Pharmacy Central Services facility to expand specialty and home delivery services. Advanced automation can accurately fill up to 4,000 prescriptions per shift.

March 17 Update | Be Advised: Heightened vigilance security efforts at UVA Health
- Why It Matters: A major cyberattack has disrupted Stryker, a global medical device supplier. While UVA Health systems remain secure and we are minimizing impact on supply chains, there may be an increased risk of phishing or fraudulent communications.

March 17 Update | Read updated guidance on the Fontaine Parking Garage transition
- Why It Matters: As teams adjust to parking at Fontaine, some congestion has occurred during peak times, though parking is still available throughout the garage. Parking and Transportation, University Police, and Security are on-site to help keep traffic flowing.
- What You Can Do: Check all levels of the garage for open spaces, including the ground floor. You can also use the ramp on the left when entering to go directly to upper levels if lower levels are full. Scan the QR below for the full update. March 17 Update | Inpatient experience scores are on the rise
- Why It Matters: In the first two months of 2026, inpatient patient experience scores have improved steadily, reaching the 89th percentile rank in February! Strong communication with providers and nurses and clear discharge information continue to be key strengths.
- What You Can Do: When looking at scores, it’s most important to consider patterns of where we excel and where we can improve. Your kind, respectful interactions and inclusion of patients in decisions make a meaningful difference. Focusing on keeping patients informed and coordinating communication across the care team can help strengthen patients’ experience even further. March 10 Update | Spanish e-consent forms are now available in Epic
- Why It Matters: A Spanish-language version of the UVA Health base electronic consent form is now available in Epic, helping make the consent process easier and more accessible for our Spanish-speaking patients.
- What You Can Do: When a provider notes an interpreter is present and the patient’s primary language is Spanish, the form will automatically appear in Spanish. Continue to explain risks, benefits, and patient questions verbally through the interpreter. For questions about e-consents, dive deeper below to submit a ticket. March 10 Update | Use outlets and breakroom appliances safely
- Why It Matters: Unattended microwaves and unsafe outlet use can create fire risks and trigger fire alarms. A quick refresh on best practices helps protect our shared spaces, reduce disruptions, and keep everyone safe.
- What You Can Do: Please stay nearby when heating food — especially popcorn. Plug microwaves and other appliances directly into wall outlets, never power strips or extension cords. March 3 Update | Universal masking is lifted in the ED and select Transplant locations, March 3
- Why It Matters: As of March 3, universal masking in the Emergency Department and Transplant inpatient unit, clinic, and infusion center has been lifted due to a safe decline in regional flu and respiratory illnesses. Thank you for your diligence this flu season!

March 3 Update | Prepare for phone number masking service change, March 4
- Why It Matters: On March 4, ANI Redirect (the “Inclement Weather” or “4-DOCS” line) will no longer be available to mask personal or direct numbers to call patients. Alternatives are available through Genesys and Zoom Phone to continue protecting users' privacy.
- What You Can Do: Dive deeper below to request a Zoom Phone account from HIT, if needed, and learn more about the Zoom Phone option here. If you are on the Genesys phone system, no action is required. For questions, contact the HIT Service Desk.
