A Year of Superb Care at UVA Health Family Medicine and Same Day Care Dominion
We are excited to celebrate UVA Health Family Medicine and Same Day Care Dominion’s first anniversary! Since opening in July 2025, this location — and Kearn Ghuman, DO, Heather Cannova, NP, and other team members — have put forth a remarkable effort to serve our communities by bringing access to primary care closer to home. In its first year, the clinic saw:
- 8,482 total visits
- 4,178 same day care visits
- 2,248 initial visits
These numbers reflect not only the impressive dedication of our teams and the impact they are having on those we serve, but also our progress as a health system. The latest UVA Community Health (CHNA) Community Health Needs Assessment for the Culpeper region identifies a growing demand for primary care services within the expanding population of Culpeper County, and these numbers indicate our team’s resounding response to that need.
“This first year has been a rewarding one. The team at Family Medicine and Same Day Care Dominion has worked diligently to provide high-quality primary and same-day care for the Culpeper community,” says UVA Community Health Medical Group Operations Senior Director Annya Soucy. “The thousands of patient visits we have completed represent more than just numbers — they represent improved access to care, stronger relationships with our patients, and a commitment to helping our community thrive. I am so proud of the team’s patient-first approach from day one to day 365!”
Looking ahead, the location will continue to grow, as it welcomed two new providers on July 31. Henrry Ramirez Lazo, MD, and Henry Miller, DO, will bolster our efforts to provide high-quality primary care, creating even greater access and allowing us to bring preventative care and same-day sick visits to even more patients in the Culpeper community.
Amid this growth, Family Medicine and Same Day Care Dominion will continue to support our 10-year strategic plan by enhancing ambulatory access to primary care and heightening our capacity to serve our communities.
